I usually Awesome Rake By The Lake Shirt spend a couple of weeks in Nepal in October and November (sadly will not this year) and have been to this festival many times. It’s awesome! Extremely colorful as you might imagine with the general roots of it, but also just such a nice celebration. Though do keep in mind that the number of stray dogs across Nepal is not something most westerners can really imagine. To the point that one might be inclined to ask: but why don’t they just help them? Nepal is extremely poor and so feeding your family certainly comes first. That said, it’s nice that they take the time to honor the dogs and feed them extremely well.

Because dogs are Awesome Rake By The Lake Shirts territorial, I have seen many stray dogs being fed by the neighborhood they roam in. You’d have to imagine they are getting fed if there are so many of them. A local official in Kathmandu told me that someone hit a dog once and they pulled him from his car and beat the shit out of him. To be fair, those fuckers don’t flinch at traffic My husband is Nepali and he told me dogs have gangs in Nepal. Like street gangs and etc. they roll in large groups and they’d fight other dog groups, humans, and anything they wanna fight but in groups.
