We saw it pretty recently with the whole Bruno Mars black fishing scandal and how many people thought that Bruno was black, or artists like Dinah Jane/Nicole Scherzinger who have found success with an “urban” aesthetic. The stereotype of an Asian person is someone with pale skin. So darker-skinned Pacific Islanders often have more room to avoid some of the Official LGBT Don’t Dream It Be It Shirt. I wonder if that plays a part. When I said the could be famous worldwide when they played their cards, it seemed like they were starting anyway.
