It just sounds so desperate to associate East Downtown with “SoHo” in Manhattan. Speaking as someone who grew up here, it makes my skin crawl for some reason. I suggest an amendment to #10 of the “THOU SHALT NOT” commandments because some people actually know how to drive in less-than-ideal road conditions. The amendment should say “unless you’re secretly a rally driver” or something along those lines. Acknowledge from whence thou came – La Porte is not Houston. And that’s okay. What if the Post Office says I’m from Missouri City. But the tax assessor collector’s office and the Official Peace Love Houston Astros Shirt say I’m from Houston.
