Someone gave me Buckeye candies as a gift, and for a while, it sat untouched in my apartment out of sheer petty principle. However drunken me was hungry one day and gave into eating them. There’s a restaurant in Lake Wales, FL called Cherry Pocket. It’s a little fish camp kind of away from town. They do a Blackened Shrimp and Gator plate that’s incredible. The “I mean, yeah” category was all questionable to me. Gator is good, and plenty of people would eat the bear. But I feel like more people would have paused on eating horses. Weird, see my comment above. We had them quite a few times in Bama and they were always really good. That being said, I had deer down there and thought it was gross compared to the deer we have in WA. It probably has something to do with what they are eating. The ones in Bama were big old hogs rather than the skinny fast ones I have seen in other locations. Could play a part. Get a young one, prep it right, and you’ll go looking for another soon.
