I felt they managed to make the Premium Quentin Tarantino Movies Art Shirt look quite magical… But that’s obviously movie magic. Because a lot of what we see in the film is objectively about as far from magical as can be. To me it looked like every single shitty parking lot in America, filled with crappy food and neon signs. Even with the cool 60s vibe and the cinematography can’t hide the fact that LA is nasty. I have never been to the US so I can’t really speak to how much it resembled other American cities, but you are correct that it wasn’t exactly Malick looking beautiful nature scenery.

LA basically represents the Premium Quentin Tarantino Movies Art Shirt. It was built in a place where there was nothing but space. That’s why it looks the way it does. Places like NYC, Chicago, and Boston look quite a bit different from LA. Even while the cinematography was admittedly great, can’t say any of what I saw of LA gave me a sensation that it’s a desirable place. The plot and music in the movie definitely did more work in establishing a fairy tale/enchanted vibe to what we were seeing. To be fair though, it’s pretty accurate to real LA from what I’ve seen.
