Well, I’m a GenX kid so all that Somewhere Between The Castle And The Halloween Town Halloween Shirt. And when it started to fade away (which was around 1997-98) I remember how it seemed to happen overnight. I look at today and the things people in their 20’s complain about or get totally stumped about and I just shake my head and feel bad for them. I’m so thankful that I currently live in a neighborhood that is wild for Halloween. Every Halloween, it looks/feels like I’m living in an 80s movie, due to the number of people in costumes on the streets. It’s awesome (and reassuring) that the magic still exists in some places.

Hell, I remember as a kid the excitement of just walking into a department store at that time of year and seeing all the awesome costumes and decorations that were put on display. Even that is a minuscule version of what it once used to be. My brother and I would always hope we could get the replica Freddy glove, but Mom always said no. She knew I’d sneak it to school lol. Damn, even taking something as mundane as a costume prop from a horror movie might get you expelled these days. Modern times suck.
